3 Reasons to Own a GPS

1. Directions

The most obvious reason people own a GPS unit is for directions. Where do you turn, how long will it take to arrive and are there shorter routes are a few of the questions a GPS unit can answer. When purchasing a GPS unit, look for one that speaks street names. For example, “turn right at Bell Avenue in 50 feet” is easier to understand than “turn right in 50 feet”, especially on a dark and stormy night. Some are Bluetooth enabled and allow you to sync up with your phone.  Find a GPS unit with a large easy to read display that can be seen in sunny and bright conditions as well as in darkness. Can you adjust the brightness of the screen?  Choose a GPS unit that will allow you to update current travel information. Is there road construction and detours? Are there new streets that your GPS unit can find?

Having the correct directions can give you the confidence to relax and enjoy your trip.

2. Safety

Traveling to a new and unfamiliar location can be intimidating and scary, especially if you have an emergency. What is your current location? Where is the nearest Police or Fire Station, Ambulance, Hospital or Doctor? These questions can be a matter of life or death. The correct GPS unit can answer these questions and give you the peace of mind you need.

3. Versatility

Many GPS units are portable and allow travel not only by vehicle, but also by walking, hiking and biking. Have fun and enjoy your surroundings.
